Creating an Account

While most open access OJS journals allow anyone to read and download articles without an account, registering unlocks useful features such as email notifications, subscription management, and the ability to submit manuscripts or accept review invitations.

Why Register?

Benefit	Description
New Issue Notifications	Receive an email when a new issue is published
Announcement Emails	Opt in to journal news and calls for papers
Subscription Management	Purchase or activate individual subscriptions
Manuscript Submission	Required if you intend to submit an article
Reviewer Invitation	Opt in so editors can invite you to peer review

Open Access journals

If the journal is fully open access you can read everything without registering. Create an account only when you need the features above.

The Registration Form

1. Click Register in the journal's top navigation bar
2. Complete all required fields (marked with an asterisk)

Field	Notes
Given Name	Your first/given name
Family Name	Your surname or last name
Affiliation	Your institution, organisation, or employer (optional but recommended)
Country	Select your country from the dropdown
Email	A working email address — used for login and notifications
Username	A unique identifier (letters, numbers, underscores; case-insensitive)
Password	Minimum 6 characters; mix letters and numbers for security
Confirm Password	Re-enter password to verify
Reviewer Checkbox	Tick to opt in to reviewer invitations (see below)

3. Review the Privacy Statement and tick the consent checkbox if displayed
4. Click Register

Usernames cannot be changed after registration. Choose something memorable and professional.

Confirming Your Email Address

Some OJS installations require email confirmation before you can log in:

1. Check your inbox for a message from the journal (check spam if not visible)
2. Click the Confirm email address link in the message
3. You are redirected to the journal and logged in automatically

If the confirmation email does not arrive within a few minutes, use the Resend Confirmation Email link on the login page.

Registering as a Reviewer

During registration, a checkbox labelled Register as a Reviewer (or similar) may appear.

• Ticking this box adds the Reviewer role to your account
• Editors can then find and invite you via the reviewer database
• You are not committing to accept any future invitation — you may always decline

You can also add or remove the Reviewer role later from User Menu → View Profile → Roles.

Logging In After Registration

1. Click Login in the top navigation bar
2. Enter your Username (or email address, if the journal allows it) and Password
3. Click Login

To reset a forgotten password:

1. Click Forgot your password? on the login page
2. Enter your registered email address
3. Check your inbox for a reset link (valid for 24 hours)
4. Click the link and set a new password

Bookmark the journal URL and keep your username and email in a password manager so you can always recover access.
