Workflow Settings

Workflow settings are under Settings โ†’ Workflow and control every stage of the editorial process.

Submissionโ€‹

Submission Checklistโ€‹

Define items authors must confirm before submitting. Common checklist items:

  • The submission has not been previously published
  • The file is in Microsoft Word or RTF format
  • All references have been checked for accuracy
  • The text uses single-spacing, 12-point font

Add/edit items under Settings โ†’ Workflow โ†’ Submission โ†’ Checklist.

Author Guidelinesโ€‹

Provide detailed formatting and style instructions. These appear on the journal's About page and in the submission wizard.

Disable Submissionsโ€‹

Temporarily prevent new submissions under Settings โ†’ Workflow โ†’ Submission โ†’ Disable Submissions.

Reviewโ€‹

Review Type (Default)โ€‹

Set the default review type for new sections:

Individual sections can override this default.

Review Deadlinesโ€‹

Reviewer Accessโ€‹

Control whether reviewers must log in or can access via a one-click link.

Review Remindersโ€‹

Configure automatic reminder emails:

  • Before deadline: e.g., 7 days before
  • After deadline: e.g., 3 days after (for overdue reviews)

Emailsโ€‹

Customise all notification emails under Settings โ†’ Workflow โ†’ Emails. Each email template has:

  • Subject โ€” editable
  • Body โ€” editable with template variables (e.g., {$authorName})
  • Enable/disable per template

Publicationโ€‹

Configure DOI settings, metadata requirements, and publication conditions under Settings โ†’ Workflow โ†’ Publication.
