Journal Setup
Journal Setup is found under Settings โ Journal in the Dashboard. It covers the journal's basic identity and publicly visible information.
Journal Identityโ
| Field | Description |

| Journal Name | Full journal name (displayed in the header and metadata) |
| Journal Initials | Short abbreviation (used in DOIs, file names) |
| Abbreviation | Abbreviated journal title for indexing |
| Publisher | Publishing institution or organisation |
| ISSN (Print) | Print ISSN (obtain from your national ISSN centre) |
| ISSN (Online) | Electronic ISSN |
| Short Description | Brief description shown in search results |
| About the Journal | Full description, aims and scope, editorial policies |
Contact Informationโ
Under Settings โ Journal โ Contact:
- Principal Contact โ name and email for editorial correspondence
- Technical Support Contact โ email shown on login/password reset pages
Sections Tabโ
See Sections for configuring article sections.
Categoriesโ
Categories provide an optional second-level classification below sections. Enable via Settings โ Journal โ Categories and assign categories to articles during production.
ISSN Registrationโ
If your journal does not yet have an ISSN:
- Apply through your national ISSN centre (links at issn.org)
- Both print and online ISSNs are free to obtain
- Enter them in Settings โ Journal โ Masthead
Metadata Standardsโ
OJS 3.5+ supports:
- Dublin Core โ automatically generated from article metadata
- JATS XML โ for OAI-PMH harvesting and CrossRef deposit
- OpenAIRE โ via the OpenAIRE plugin
- DOAJ โ via the DOAJ plugin
