Editorial Decisions
Decision Typesโ
| Decision | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Accept Submission | Ready to proceed to copyediting without revision |
| Accept and Skip Review | Desk-accept for invited/commissioned pieces |
| Request Revisions | Revisions needed; further review may or may not follow |
| Resubmit for Review | Major revisions; full new review round required |
| Decline Submission | Not suitable for the journal |
| Desk Reject | Reject before review (scope, formatting, quality) |
Making a Decisionโ
- Open the submission
- Scroll to the Editorial Decision panel
- Click the appropriate decision button
- Customise the notification email to the author
- Click Record Decision
Requesting Revisionsโ
When requesting revisions:
- Select Request Revisions
- In the email, clearly describe:
- Each required change
- Whether a new review round will follow
- The revision deadline
- Attach reviewer comments if appropriate (check blind review settings)
Author Responseโ
After a revision decision:
- The author sees the decision in their dashboard
- They upload revised files and respond via the Revision discussion thread
- You receive a notification when revisions are submitted
Accepting After Revisionsโ
- Review the revised files
- Compare with original reviewer concerns
- Make a final Accept Submission decision
- Notify the author and proceed to Copyediting
