Responding to Revision Requests

When an editor requests revisions, you receive an email notification. Your submission moves to a revisions requested state.

Accessing the Revision Requestโ€‹

  1. Log in โ†’ Dashboard โ†’ My Queue
  2. Click the submission
  3. The Review tab shows the decision and any shared reviewer comments

Reading Reviewer Commentsโ€‹

In the Review stage:

  • Scroll to the review round that has been completed
  • Click View next to each reviewer to see their comments
  • Download any annotated files the reviewer has attached
note

In double-blind review, reviewer names are not revealed unless the journal uses open review.

Preparing Your Responseโ€‹

Good revision practice:

  1. Create a Response to Reviewers document addressing each comment point by point
  2. Revise your manuscript to address the requested changes
  3. Use tracked changes or a clean version โ€” follow the journal's preference

Uploading Revised Filesโ€‹

  1. Click the Upload File button in the Revisions panel
  2. Select the file type:
    • Revised Article for your updated manuscript
    • Response to Reviewers for your point-by-point response
  3. Upload and confirm each file
  4. Click Add Discussion (or reply in the existing discussion thread) to notify the editor

Notifying the Editorโ€‹

After uploading:

  1. Go to the Discussions panel in the Review stage
  2. Click Add Discussion (or reply to the existing thread)
  3. Write a brief note: "Revised manuscript and response to reviewers have been uploaded."
  4. Add the editor as a participant
  5. Click OK

The editor receives a notification to review your revisions.

Multiple Revision Roundsโ€‹

If a second revision is requested, repeat the same process. Each revision round is tracked separately in OJS and all files are preserved.
