Proofreader
The Proofreader reviews the final typeset galleys โ PDF, HTML, or other formats โ for any typographical, formatting, or layout errors before an article is published.
Role scope
Proofreaders see only the galleys assigned to them for review. They communicate corrections through OJS discussion threads; they do not edit galley files directly.
Responsibilitiesโ
| Task | Description |
|---|---|
| Galley Review | Check for typos, formatting errors, and broken elements |
| Error Reporting | List corrections in the discussion thread or an attached file |
| Confirmation | Notify the Layout Editor and/or Editor that proofreading is complete |
What Proofreaders Checkโ

- Incorrect or missing formatting (headings, tables, figures)
- Figure/table numbering and captions
- Reference list formatting and completeness
- Page layout issues (widows, orphans, line breaks in PDF)
- Hyperlink functionality (HTML galleys)
