Accessing Assigned Submissions
As a Copyeditor you only see submissions that have been explicitly assigned to you at the Copyediting stage. This page explains how to locate them and understand the Copyediting stage panel.
Logging Inโ
- Go to your journal's OJS URL (e.g.
https://journal.example.org). - Click Login in the top navigation bar.
- Enter your username and password, then click Login.
Use the Forgot your password? link on the login page. A reset link will be sent to your registered email address.
Navigating to Your Queueโ
After logging in, OJS places you on your Dashboard. Copyediting assignments are listed under My Queue.
| Navigation path | What you see |
|---|---|
| Dashboard โ My Queue | All active tasks assigned to you, including copyediting-stage submissions |
| Dashboard โ Active Submissions | Every submission on which you hold any role |
| Submissions (left sidebar) | Full submissions list โ useful if you need to search by title or ID |
My Queue filters to tasks awaiting your action. A submission disappears from this list once you complete your copyediting task and notify the editor.
Identifying Copyediting-Stage Submissionsโ
In My Queue, each submission card displays:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Submission title | The article being copyedited |
| Stage badge | Shows Copyediting in orange/yellow |
| Days in stage | How long the submission has been at this stage |
| Assigned participants | Your name plus the handling editor |
Look for the Copyediting stage badge. Submissions at Review, Production, or other stages are not your current responsibility.
Opening a Submissionโ
- From My Queue, click the submission title or the View button on its card.
- The submission opens on the Workflow tab by default.
- Click the Copyediting tab in the workflow navigation to jump directly to the copyediting panel.
Overview of the Copyediting Stage Panelโ
Once inside a submission at the Copyediting stage, you will see two main sections:
Copyediting Filesโ
| Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Submission Files | The accepted manuscript(s) sent to you by the editor โ download these to begin work |
| Copyedited Files | Where you upload your revised file after editing |
Discussionsโ
The Discussions panel lets you exchange messages with the editor and author without leaving OJS. All conversation is logged against the submission for the record.
OJS retains every uploaded file version. If you upload a revised file more than once, earlier versions remain accessible to editors via the file history.
